Home is a place you grow up wanting to leave, and grow old wanting to get back to.
– John Pearce

In our backyard, we’ve planted flowers in a circle around two trees. The trees were planted shortly after the births of our two granddaughters. Around the 7 1/2-year-old tree is a tangle of Cosmos, one of my favorite, long-lasting flowers. Yesterday morning the light was filtering through the Cosmos foilage, creating shadows across the blossoms. I liked how a taller flower was open wide to the sun, and the smaller had yet to bloom fully. Reminded me of two generations sharing space but growing at their own pace.

  1. Beautiful image and sentiment Bonnie, after my Father died I bought his house (the place I grew up), we had looked at larger more beautiful houses, but none of them were home. So here we are trying to fix it up to a more present living condition, but it doesn’t matter it’s still home.

The cosmos are lovely, and thanks for the link as well.

  2. I so enjoy your photos paired with thought-provoking quotes. I like it even better when you give a little personal insight! Thanks for this beautiful image, beautiful quote, and little glimpse into you, the Artist.
