Wildflower Surprise

The laws of nature are but the mathematical thoughts of God.
– Euclid (in Mathematical Journey by Stanley Gudder)

Along a wooded trail, I found clumps of these wildflowers. If you can ID it, please leave a comment.
Update: A botanist at OSU identified it as Bird’s-foot-trefoil (Lotus corniculatus) Also known as: bacon and eggs because of the red-yellow coloration. It’s a member of the pea family!
