Leaf Study #1
“How beautifully leaves grow
old. How full of light
and color are their last days.” – John Burroughs
I spent a good deal of time trapsing through the woods this week while camping. Here’s a simple leaf, dried and crispy, hanging from a prickly vine. I converted to b/w because I liked how it contrasts the veins.

Broken Link?

I love this. The leaf folded over on itself is wonderful. What graceful lines and curves.
Stunning detail! Especially love the b&w processing. Beautiful!
There’s so much detail that you can almost feel it! That light coming from the left is perfect.
Lovely, Bonnie!
Wow! That is simply GORGEOUS! I love these kind of macro shots, full of abstract detail. The bw is wonderful!
This is amazing. I love the detail.
Beautiful. My goal is to learn to achieve that kind of lighting.
Wow, great pic!
They’re all great pictures but this one is extra special. The detail and the thorns are perfect. Black and white seems like the only way to show this one…good decision. Not sure I would have thought of that. Thanks for all your unusual pictures!
How did you like the Phil Wickham album? Great isn’t it!!
Thanks, everyone! I liked hearing how this image affected each of you. I love leaves and b/w sometimes works best. As for lighting…that’s God’s department. Early morning rarely disappoints.
The lines, curves and details are fantastic in this Bonnie, love it as a b&w as well, great work !!
Very nice work. Impressive.
Best,
Louis
